Getting Ready For The Holidays

HUGE SHOP UPDATE!

The past two days have been keeping me very busy, with shop related things. I've been creating new jewelry, photographing new jewelry, advertising new jewelry, and more! I am currently on a jewelry overload! My shop has had about 15 new pieces added too it the past two days and hopefully I will be able to crank out just a little more over the remainder of the weekend.

Many of my new pieces are also very affordable with the majority being priced under $20.00! I'm hopping I will get a decent amount of sales for the holiday. I'm really looking forward to see what happens with my Black Friday - Cyber Monday Sale!

Hopefully Dexter will be a good little puppy the rest of the weekend like he was today! I don't need anymore chewed up power cords or lost earrings! Yesterday I was photographing outside on my deck and came in to grab something I had forgot, when I went back out a earring and mysteriously gone missing.

If you haven't noticed, the newest owl pieces are my favorites.

Shop Inspirations

For the etsy bloggers November 19th blog carnival we were asked "What is always inspiring you for your shops, your works, or anything in your life?".  I figured I would answer this aboutwhat inspires my jewelry.

The majority of my designs are inspired by two main things vintage pieces and modern simplicity.  I have always been a fan of modern elements, I believe this is from my job as a graphic designer and web designer. I prefer clean, simple and modern designs. I've also always loved modern designs in variety of other things furniture, buildings and the list goes on. I've also always loved vintage and the way I imagine vintage pieces to tell a story.

When I first started my shop my biggest inspiration was vintage keys. I wondering what were these keys used for, did they unlock a door? Or better yet a secret door? What about a trunk? Box? The idea of what one little key could of unlocked is endless.

Often times my inspiration will come from just seeing something that sparks my interest. You never know what kind of idea will pop into your head when you see something you like.

Getting Ready For Holiday Sales!

That would be my adorable little puppy Dexter. Dexter decided the other day that he was going to use my camera cord as his new chew toy. Moving Back To Blogger

Sorry for the recent post spam.

After a short lived run with wordpress, I am currently  moving back to blogger and wanted to move some of my recent post over. While wordpress does have some great options that I really love, it also comes with alot of disadvantages (not to mention never ending spam).

Blogger also seems to be the blog of choice when it comes to etsy sellers and I definitely felt a little out of the community loop by having wordpress.

Got into the holiday spirit today and created a Thanksgiving treasury.

I can't believe it is already November 5th! Noticing the date I have a sudden urge to watch V for Vendetta. (Remember, remember...)

Anyways, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I can't believe it! I honestly have no idea where my year has gone, it seems to be one big blur at this point.  It's even harder to believe that Christmas is only a month and half away! Before I know it it will be 2011, crazy how time seems to fly by so quickly.

New Geometric Designs

Diamond Drops - Vintage Inspired Dangle Earrings

My Etsy Shop has been updated with 8 new geometric inspired designs. All the new designs are very simple, modern and bold. They each make a statement in there own unique way. Be sure to check them out.

Earlier today prior to photographing all the new jewelry, I spent some time photographing our two dogs (DJ & Dexter) as well as some of the leaves and all the wonderful colors. I put together a stop motion video of all of the pictures. I really wish I had a Digitial SLR camera, this would of turned out so much better... I will have one, one day. Regardless of my crappy camera I did have fun, just wish it saved as better quality.

Stop Motion video below, might take a few seconds to load. If for any reason you have problems loading you can also view it at flickr.

What I Love About Autumn

Press Leaves And Other Found Things

Autumn in Michigan means a wide variety of things.

It means fresh delicious apples (which I have been eating daily the past couple of weeks). It means Halloween is right around the corner, which also means; haunted houses, hay rides, cornstalk mazes, pumpkins, bonfires and more!

The trees are slowly loosing all there leaves. While this is sad as it means winter is right around the corner it is also absolutely beautiful. The leaves are vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow and green. Driving around Michigan this time of year even in the city is beautiful when you get to glance at all the beautiful colors up above in the trees.

My two favorite fall activities are going to the cider mill and having bonfires with friends. These is nothing better then fresh doughnuts and cider on a sunny (or not so sunny) Autumn day. I'm usually not a huge fan of doughnuts most of the year but when it comes to Autumn I absolutely love them. I also love a good bonfire with friends, it always leaves to a good time and good memories.

What's In My Bag

Ever wonder what someone is caring around with them? Well here's your chance to sneak a peak at what is going on inside of mine. Books, keys, iPhone, headphones, way to much chapstick and more. The reason I have 6 chapsticks in my purse is because I thought I had lost some as they were in a random pocket I forgot even existed.

I think I am going to start a "What's In My Bag" series on flickr, taking a photo each month. Should be interesting to see how things change.

I've been really wanting to do a 365 photography project, but my lack of a good camera always puts me off.  My photography itch has come back recently, I really want a digital SLR soon. I've been wanting one for years now, but have yet to actual purchase one. Hopefully I'll have one by sometime next year, *crosses fingers*.

New shop updates will be coming soon, I've put away time for the next two days to work on creating new things, photographing, advertising and then some. I have a bunch of ideas brewing in my head and can't wait to create some of them.

Picked up my copy of "Mess: The Manual Of Accidents and Mistakes" by Keri Smith the other day. I can't wait to get started. I have fallen in love with Keri Smith's books. I love the simplicity and the fact that they let loose your inner kid. These books definitely inspire you to think outside of the box. They have also reminded me that I am still a kid at heart.

I picked up my copy of "Wreck This Journal" on April 20, 2010. I just recently started working on it again. I've been thinking about possibly doing one of these a year. I think seeing the different outcomes would be highly entertaining and an awesome thing to reflect on.

I also started her list of 100 Ideas, I've been enjoying this as well although I've definitely been taking my time on this project.
