CUCUMBERS & WATERMELON

Alright so I am getting this in after the fact, but it's the effort that counts right. The newest one is yet to be put up and I'd like to get one in this month for the Etsy Bloggers Blog Carnival after I missed last month.

My favorite foods (of the moment) are cucumbers and watermelon. They are the perfect fruit & vegetable for summer. They are so refreshing and completely delicious. Both are growing in my garden as well, although I don't know if the watermelons will finish in time as the weather has already started to cool down around here.

We have gone through numerous watermelons this year. My fiance and I even ran out at 1:30am one day to go and get one when the mood struck, it was delicious. Who cares if we didn't start eating it until almost 2:30am.

I eat cucumbers constantly for a snack. I slice them up put on some Italian dressing and enjoy, also taste great with fresh tomatoes as well.

5 Summer Favorites

Port Austin, MI

Time for another etsyblogger, Blog Carnival Post. This time I'm chosing, Tell us your top five favorite things about summer! (And tell us why, of course!). Which is great, I absolutely love summer. It has always been my favorite season, and probably always will.

1. The Weather: Living in Michigan can get frustrating at time. I suppose it's nice to see all the seasons, but I absolutely despise snow and the cold. As soon as Winter ends and we start getting 60 degree weather the flip flops come out and I forget entirely about spring and just think summer is almost here. I love the hot sunny days of summer.

2. BBQ's: Sure you can BBQ all year round, but other times of the year just don't seem to be quite as fun. Summer we use our grill as much as possible, and for one reason or another everything just seems to taste better once it has been tossed on a grill.

3. Beaches: Ever since I've been little I've always loved the beach. Laying out in the sand, building sandcastles, swimming in the lake/ocean. Beaches are beautiful and such a fun way to spend a summer day.

4.Fresh Fruit & Vegtables: Their isn't anything else quite like growing your own fruits and vegetables. While we don't really have much fruit planted this year we definitely have quite a few veggies. It's always nice when you can go out to your own garden and just grab what you need.

5. Chillin On Our Deck: When we moved into our house a few years ago one of its biggest selling points was the deck in the back. It has a roof over it but is open on all sides. It initialy became our "summer chill" area. Numerous nights are spent out there just hanging out, lot's of memories have been made out there.

Summer Is Coming

Memorial Day weekend is here, and that means its the unofficial kickoff of summer. The weather is getting warmer, the landscape is greener and summer is right around the corner. (It just can't seem to get here soon enough).

With summer coming that means a new designs for the occasion. I've been working on a few new things especially for summer. My favorite so far is a peace sign design "slip necklace" which I absolutely love. The first one I made I loved so much I ended up wearing it myself before taking photographs of it. I was going out and wanted something just right to wear and it fit perfectly. I've been wearing it every day since, along with a similar bracelet that I've been wearing for about two weeks now. So needless to say some peace sign designs will definitely be popping up soon.

My next favorite thing is "Heavy Metal". I end up with lots of scrap chain and I've began creating "Heavy Metal" designs out of those scraps. They are basically a mix of random chains in various styles and colors.

I will also be doing a bunch of beach related pieces as the beach is probably my favorite thing about summer. One day I will live by the ocean on the beach. These man made lake beaches around me just don't cut it and I don't live by any of the nice Great Lake beaches like the west side of the state has.

Plus of course keys will remain a strong focal point of many designs.

March Is Here & That Means Spring Is Near!

"March is a month of considerable frustration - it is so near spring and yet across a great deal
of the country the weather is still so violent and changeable that outdoor activity in our
yards seems light years away." - Thalassa Cruso

Oh how true this quote is. March is a great month filled with so many great things, St. Patricks Day, my birthday, various family birthdays, spring forward, spring solstice as well as national craft month (and various other month specific occasions).

However, it never seems to fail that on my birthday March 18th, we end up getting the last snow storm of the year. Their have only been perhaps two or three years I remember not seeing snow on my birthday. It's quite disappointing since my birthday is 3 days prior to the first day of spring. None the less this still means that spring is almost here and summer is right around the corner. Reagurdless of snow and coldness that March tends to start off with by the last few days we can normally see quite a change. Temperatures start to regulate themselves as it gets warmer and flowers start to bloom.

Then my brain instantly kicks into summer mode as I quickly forget about longing for spring. Summer is my favorite month, and Spring simply means that it is almost here. I'll soon be able to replace boots with flip-flops, and t-shirts with tank tops. Oh, how I look forward to days like these.

I also updated my Etsy Shop today with some lovely new spring pieces as well as a few traditional pieces. I also have 3 beautiful St. Patricks Day inspired key necklaces being featured at the moment.
