Quick Update

I just wanted to take some time out to post a quick update. I have been quite busy lately with work and life in general as of late. My shop has taken the biggest hit as I just don't have the extra time to focus on creating things and blogging like I had before.

Things should hopefully pick up again sometime early next year. However until then, don't expect to see much from me. In the meantime you can stop by and visit my etsy finds blog @ alwaysetsy.blogspot.com.

The Girl, Behind The Shop

For this weeks etsybloggers blog carnival we were asked to share a picture of ourselves or our studios. Since my Studio is currently a mess I decided to go with the first option. So, that picture up there, yep, that's me.

I've never really been a fan of talking about myself so this post will probably be fairly short and to the point. I've always been a creative person. When I was younger I spent hours drawing, painting and making various things. When I got older I still made jewelery but most of my creativity went to graphic design. It's no surprise that I ended up as a graphic/web designer who makes jewelry on the side.

I'm a fan of music, everything from metal to techno I enjoy pretty much all types of music. I'm laid back, sarcastic and love a good thunderstorm every now and again. Lately I've become a TV snob and watch all kinds of different shows. Two years ago I watched maybe 3 TV shows a week, now I watch well let's just say ALOT more then that.

So there you have it a quick and to the point post of yours truly. I wish I was capable of stating more but like I said I'm not a fan of stalking about myself. If you have a question feel free to ask.

CUCUMBERS & WATERMELON

Alright so I am getting this in after the fact, but it's the effort that counts right. The newest one is yet to be put up and I'd like to get one in this month for the Etsy Bloggers Blog Carnival after I missed last month.

My favorite foods (of the moment) are cucumbers and watermelon. They are the perfect fruit & vegetable for summer. They are so refreshing and completely delicious. Both are growing in my garden as well, although I don't know if the watermelons will finish in time as the weather has already started to cool down around here.

We have gone through numerous watermelons this year. My fiance and I even ran out at 1:30am one day to go and get one when the mood struck, it was delicious. Who cares if we didn't start eating it until almost 2:30am.

I eat cucumbers constantly for a snack. I slice them up put on some Italian dressing and enjoy, also taste great with fresh tomatoes as well.

New Twitter

Hey Everyone!

It's been a really long time since I've updated. It's been a busy summer for me and I haven't been able to put any time into my shop at all the past couple of months. That however is about to change. I am determined to get back on track with my shop once again!

The first step to getting back on track was a new twitter page which you can find here: https://twitter.com/c2creations . I had been using my personal twitter for my shop and myself and have decided to make one specifically for the shop.

Expect some shop news soon as well as regular blog post again!

5 Summer Favorites

Port Austin, MI
Originally uploaded by ★ Stacy
Time for another etsyblogger, Blog Carnival Post. This time I'm chosing, Tell us your top five favorite things about summer! (And tell us why, of course!). Which is great, I absolutely love summer. It has always been my favorite season, and probably always will.

1. The Weather: Living in Michigan can get frustrating at time. I suppose it's nice to see all the seasons, but I absolutely despise snow and the cold. As soon as Winter ends and we start getting 60 degree weather the flip flops come out and I forget entirely about spring and just think summer is almost here. I love the hot sunny days of summer.

2. BBQ's: Sure you can BBQ all year round, but other times of the year just don't seem to be quite as fun. Summer we use our grill as much as possible, and for one reason or another everything just seems to taste better once it has been tossed on a grill.

3. Beaches: Ever since I've been little I've always loved the beach. Laying out in the sand, building sandcastles, swimming in the lake/ocean. Beaches are beautiful and such a fun way to spend a summer day.

4.Fresh Fruit & Vegtables: Their isn't anything else quite like growing your own fruits and vegetables. While we don't really have much fruit planted this year we definitely have quite a few veggies. It's always nice when you can go out to your own garden and just grab what you need.

5. Chillin On Our Deck: When we moved into our house a few years ago one of its biggest selling points was the deck in the back. It has a roof over it but is open on all sides. It initialy became our "summer chill" area. Numerous nights are spent out there just hanging out, lot's of memories have been made out there.

Summer Is Coming

Memorial Day weekend is here, and that means its the unofficial kickoff of summer. The weather is getting warmer, the landscape is greener and summer is right around the corner. (It just can't seem to get here soon enough).

With summer coming that means a new designs for the occasion. I've been working on a few new things especially for summer. My favorite so far is a peace sign design "slip necklace" which I absolutely love. The first one I made I loved so much I ended up wearing it myself before taking photographs of it. I was going out and wanted something just right to wear and it fit perfectly. I've been wearing it every day since, along with a similar bracelet that I've been wearing for about two weeks now. So needless to say some peace sign designs will definitely be popping up soon.

My next favorite thing is "Heavy Metal". I end up with lots of scrap chain and I've began creating "Heavy Metal" designs out of those scraps. They are basically a mix of random chains in various styles and colors.

I will also be doing a bunch of beach related pieces as the beach is probably my favorite thing about summer. One day I will live by the ocean on the beach. These man made lake beaches around me just don't cut it and I don't live by any of the nice Great Lake beaches like the west side of the state has.

Plus of course keys will remain a strong focal point of many designs.

Spring Has Sprung

ETSYBLOGGERS: BLOG CARNIVAL

Now that spring has sprung, it's planting time. If you're into gardening, what would your dream garden look like? What flowers/bulbs/herbs would you plant? What about garden doodads or statues?

Last year we cleared out space for a vegetable garden. It ended up being a great garden, we ended up with a bunch of vegetables. Our Tomato plants were the biggest I had seen about 3ft tall each and the stalks on them with thick and strong. I was impressed.

This year I'm hopping to plant more of a variety since last years was smaller and just a test to see how well things would do. I'm hopping to clear out more space and I'm going to also be planting things a bit further apart this year. Last year everything was about a foot apart or more and it still was to close together because the plants got so big.

I haven't really been able to plant flowers yet, we're still working on the landscaping aspect and have nothing but ground cover type plants. (Juniper, Ivy ect.) I can't stand it personally, hopefully this year we will get it all pulled out. Last year we tackled some of the larger bushes this year will be the smaller ones.

As far as decorations go I don't have many. I have a few stones, hanging tea light holders and some chimes. Nothing really overboard for the decorations.

I should be starting on things this week as we have two lovely days cmming up (Hopefully they stay that way).

Did You Know?

1). Did you know that March is:

* Irish American Month
* Music in Our Schools Month
* National Craft Month
* National Frozen Food Month
* National Irish American Heritage Month- designated by Congress in 1995.
* National Nutrition Month
* National Peanut Month
* National Women's History Month
* Poetry Month
* Red Cross Month
* Social Workers Month

Which of these means the most to you, why, and how do you celebrate/remember?

To Add to this list March is also, National Nutrition Month, National Kidney Months, National Youth Art Month, National Caffeine Awareness Month, National Flour Month, National Sauce Month, National Noodle Month, Foot Health Month, Greek-American Heritage Month, Steroid Abuse Prevention Month, Poison Prevention Awareness Month, National Umbrella Month, National Optimism Month, National Athletic Training Month, National Childrens Craft Day Month, National Eye Donor Month, Save Your Vision Month, Sports Eye Safety Month & Patients Safety Awareness Month

Who knew that March was so many things? I certainly didn't, makes you wonder what all the months consist of you know? It's amazing that we have national months for things like frozen food, umbrellas, foot health, noodles and sauce to name a few. I can't really say any of these really mean that much to me because I didn't even know most of them existed. I did know about national craft month as well as a few others but nothing I really remembered or participated in.

I definitely like the idea of most of some of these as they hold a purpose. I guess National Craft month would mean the most to me, as it's the only one I really knew about. It's nice to know their is a month dedicated to all the crafters who put so much hard work in what they do. I've heard of many people vowing to do a different craft everyday of the month, which is awesome. Personally I just don't have the time every day to sit down and do this, although it would most certainly be a challenge.

1 Month Anniversary

Today marks my "1 Month Anniversary" for my etsy shop.

My One Month Stats
  • SALES: 5

  • SHOP HEARTS: 50

  • CURRENT ITEM HEARTS: 51

  • GIFT GUIDES: 1 (St. Patrick's Day)

  • TREASURIES THAT I HAVE BEEN IN: 1 (That I am aware of)

  • SHOP VISITS: 888 (Based on Google Analytic's)

  • FRONT PAGE: 0

I must say I am quite happy with my 1 Month Statistics. I wasn't really expecting to many sales in my first month as jewelry is the most crowded area of etsy (after supplies of course). I've heard many people say they didn't receive any sales until after their first or second month. I was even more thrilled to be put into one of the gift guides, even though that didn't lead to a sale of the specific item listed. Hopefully I can continue this trend with growing sales, and visits and don't take a turn in the opposite direction.

I've also added 4 new items to my shop today, here's a preview of the new items.

Mon nom est amour (My Name Is Love)

You can find these items and more currently in my shop, candycrack.etsy.com.
